Florida Bookkeeper Arrested for Stealing Over $200K from Farm Machinery Business

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has arrested Gail Yvonne Young, 59, of Altha, on charges of grand theft over $100,000, a first-degree felony. Young, who worked as a bookkeeper for a local farm machinery business, is accused of fraudulently paying herself more than $202,700 beyond her normal salary.

The investigation began on December 5, 2024, after business owners reported concerns that Young had been engaged in a scheme to defraud the company. An audit conducted by the company’s accounting firm identified unauthorized payments made to Young.

Authorities determined that Young, who was responsible for payroll, accounts receivable, and inventory, manipulated financial records to divert additional payments to herself.

FDLE agents arrested Young without incident on January 31, 2025. She was booked into the Jackson County Jail. The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney for the 14th Judicial Circuit.

The investigation was conducted by the FDLE Panama City Field Office with assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The case remains active.
