A Duval County jury has found 42-year-old Antwon Piere Jenkins guilty of Trafficking in Substituted Cathinone, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Less Than 20 Grams of Cannabis, and Possession of Controlled Substance Paraphernalia. With the verdict, Jenkins faces up to 42 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Anthony Salem will sentence him at a later date.
On November 15, 2023, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers responded to a noise complaint on Bert Road. After addressing the complaint, officers noticed Jenkins asleep in the driver’s seat of an SUV as they returned to their patrol cars. Looking through the driver-side window, they saw two multicolored, granulated pills on the center console. Officers opened the door to wake Jenkins and check on his condition. Once they determined he was not experiencing a medical emergency, they searched the SUV.
Inside the vehicle, officers found drugs scattered throughout, including a trafficking amount of substituted cathinone beneath the driver’s seat. Jenkins also had more than $1,000 in small denominations, a pattern commonly associated with narcotics sales.
The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Michael Eckhart and Nicholas Salatino Jr.
