Driver Charged with DUI Manslaughter After Pedestrian Dies from Injuries

Michael Aoun, 34, has been arrested and faces upgraded charges of vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on January 22, 2025.

Aoun was initially arrested on charges of DUI causing serious bodily injury and reckless driving causing serious bodily injury after a crash on Dali Blvd SE. He was apprehended in Michigan for a violation of his pre-trial release and subsequently brought back to Pinellas County.

The incident occurred on January 22, 2025, at 8:10 p.m., when Aoun, driving a Chrysler minivan at a high rate of speed on Dali Blvd from First Street South, lost control of the vehicle near Bayshore Dr. SE. He crossed into two bicycle lanes and struck pedestrian Paul Miller, 37, who was in the median.

Miller was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he died from his injuries on January 28th.

Traffic investigators determined Aoun was under the influence at the time of the crash, leading to the upgraded charges. The investigation is ongoing.
