Man Charged in Kidnapping of Missing Teen in St. Petersburg

Authorities are investigating the disappearance and suspected homicide of 16-year-old Miranda Corsette, who was last seen on February 15, 2025.

According to police, Corsette was lured through a social media app to meet 35-year-old Steven Gress on February 14. She returned home that night but went back the following day to his duplex at 2708 27th Ave. N. She was reported missing to the Gulfport Police Department on February 24.

Investigators determined that Corsette remained at the home with Gress and his domestic partner, 37-year-old Michelle Brandes. On February 20, a dispute occurred, and Corsette was beaten. Sometime between February 20 and February 24, she was killed.

Gress allegedly transported her body to a home at 12243 Mallory Drive in Largo, where evidence suggests it was dismembered before being driven to Hillsborough County and placed in a dumpster at 2893 14th Ave. S.E. in Ruskin. Detectives have located the dumpster and are working to recover her remains.

Gress, already in jail on unrelated charges, was arrested on March 5 for pointing a harpoon at Brandes and for drug possession. As of March 6, he has also been charged with kidnapping in Corsette’s disappearance. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

Authorities are searching for Michelle Brandes. Anyone with information is urged to contact the St. Petersburg Police Department at 727-893-7780 or text SPPD + their tip to TIP411.

Several agencies, including Gulfport Police, Largo Police, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, and state and federal partners, are assisting in the investigation.
