Man Arrested for Attempted Homicide Following Shooting in Gilchrist County

A Bell man has been arrested following a shooting that left one person critically injured.

On March 12, 2025, at approximately 8:50 a.m., the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting in the 20th block of NW 30th Street in Bell, Florida. Deputies arrived on scene by 8:56 a.m. and provided medical assistance to a victim who had been shot multiple times. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Deputies identified the suspect as 40-year-old Stuart Robert Skrabec of Bell, Florida. Skrabec was arrested at the scene and charged with Attempted Homicide and Aggravated Battery.

Authorities say the shooting appears to have stemmed from a property dispute. The investigation is ongoing.

Sheriff Bobby Schultz extended his thoughts and prayers to the victim and their family and commended the professionalism of GCSO deputies and Gilchrist County Fire/Rescue personnel.
