On Wednesday morning, March 19, 2025, detectives executed a search warrant at 210 Banyan Drive, where the St. Lucie County SWAT team secured the residence occupied by Sarah Works, 28.
Investigators say Works gained the trust of an elderly victim by presenting herself as a caregiver. Once in that role, she allegedly exploited the victim’s trust to access financial resources and personal identification.
A family member living out of state noticed suspicious activity in the victim’s bank account and reported it to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, prompting an investigation that led to Works’ arrest.
Works has been charged with Scheme to Defraud, Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards, and Criminal Use of Personal Identification.
“Fraud and elder abuse are crimes that not only violate the law but also betray the trust of our most vulnerable citizens. We will continue to take a strong stance against those who exploit and harm others for personal gain,” said Sheriff Richard Del Toro.
