A 36-year-old man is dead after charging at a Stuart Police Officer with a knife on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
At approximately 7:00 AM, an officer responded to a call at Sierra Condominiums in the 1000 block of SE Monterey Road regarding a male acting erratically and reportedly armed with a knife.
Video footage shows the officer briefly speaking with the man. During the interaction, the man suddenly charged at the officer at full sprint, holding a large knife.
Faced with the immediate threat, the officer fired his duty weapon, striking the suspect.
Officers immediately administered life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. The man was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The involved officer has been placed on administrative leave, in accordance with departmental policy.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating the incident.
