Son Arrested for Fatally Stabbing Father in Orlando Home

A 70-year-old man, Meb G. Yohan, has died after being stabbed multiple times in his Orlando home on Thursday morning. Police have arrested his 38-year-old son, Almeb Y. Gebreyohannes, and charged him with Second-Degree Murder with a Weapon. The Gebreyohannes surname is usually found in Ethiopia.

Officers from the Orlando Police Department responded to a call reporting a stabbing at 9456 Candice Court at approximately 6:47 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Yohan suffering from several lacerations. He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center but later succumbed to his injuries.

Gebreyohannes, the victim’s son, was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

Authorities noted that Gebreyohannes has a history of violent encounters with law enforcement, including:

  • 2014: Involved in an Officer Involved Shooting after allegedly charging officers with a baseball bat. The original call was regarding him threatening to kill his mother.
  • 2022: Tased by officers after allegedly producing a knife and threatening to stab an officer. The original call was from his father, claiming Gebreyohannes had choked and battered him.

The investigation into the fatal stabbing is ongoing.
