Repeat Fentanyl Trafficker Sentenced to 27 Years in Citrus County

Heather Lynne Duarte-Wright, a 41-year-old seven-time convicted felon, has been sentenced to 27 years in the Florida Department of Corrections for Trafficking in Fentanyl and Possession of Paraphernalia. A jury found Duarte-Wright guilty in January 2025.

The sentencing follows a traffic stop by a Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputy on August 10, 2023. The deputy stopped a motor scooter without a license plate. Duarte-Wright, a passenger on the scooter, was asked to step off. During this time, the deputy noticed a black zippered pouch protruding from under her shirt.

When questioned, Duarte-Wright admitted the pouch contained paraphernalia and a small amount of Fentanyl. The deputy secured Duarte-Wright and removed the pouch, which contained a clear plastic bag with approximately 20 grams of a white substance and hypodermic needles.

A field test and subsequent testing by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirmed the white substance to be Fentanyl.

Chief Assistant State Attorney Walter Forgie emphasized the office’s commitment to prosecuting fentanyl traffickers due to the drug’s devastating impact on the community.

Assistant State Attorneys Patsey Jacobs and Elizabeth Colombrito successfully prosecuted the case.
