Two Matanzas High School Students Arrested for Vehicle Burglaries on Campus

On April 9, 2025, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) arrested two Matanzas High School students for allegedly burglarizing vehicles parked on school grounds. The students are identified as 15-year-old Mya Lynn Rogers and 14-year-old Allyson Oberland, both residents of Palm Coast.

The investigation began after a witness reported the incident to school administrators, who then contacted the FCSO School Resource Deputies. Deputies discovered that Rogers and Oberland had intentionally skipped their first-period class to break into vehicles located behind the school.

At the time of their arrest, the two teenagers were in possession of several stolen items. Authorities have currently identified one victim in the case.

Sheriff Rick Staly emphasized the zero-tolerance policy for crime in schools, commending the witness for reporting the suspicious activity and the School Resource Deputies for their swift action. He urged parents to educate their children about the serious legal consequences of such actions, as the students are now facing felony charges.

Rogers was arrested on charges including Burglary of a Conveyance – Unoccupied Unarmed, Larceny Credit Card, Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card to Obtain Goods, and Petit Theft from a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree. Oberland was arrested for Burglary of a Conveyance – Unoccupied Unarmed, Larceny Credit Card, and Petty Theft from a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree. Both were processed at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. However, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice directed that both girls be released to their parents.

Flagler County Schools Superintendent LaShakia Moore echoed Sheriff Staly’s sentiment, stating the school district’s commitment to safe learning environments and encouraging the “See Something, Say Something” practice among students, faculty, and staff.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public to report any suspicious activity by calling 386-313-4911, emailing TIPS@flaglersheriff.com, using the FCSO app or website, or through the FortifyFL app at getfortifyfl.com.
