After a two-day trial, a Putnam County jury convicted Edarian Price of Second-Degree Murder with a Firearm. Price, who was 17 years old at the time of the crime, was found guilty as charged.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 7, 2023, when Price was invited to a Palatka residence by his girlfriend. Upon entering the home, another young man stood up, prepared to fight Price. The defendant immediately drew a gun and shot the victim once in the torso before fleeing the scene. Tragically, the victim died from his injuries at the residence.
Multiple witnesses inside the home observed the murder and identified Price as the shooter. Following a 20-day search, the U.S. Marshals Service located and apprehended Price in New Jersey.
State Attorney R.J. Larizza commented on the verdict, stating, “This case is a stark example of Young Bun defendants’ total disdain for the sanctity of life. Gun violence and murder have become too commonplace for these offenders.”
The Palatka Police Department, with assistance from State Attorney Investigators and the U.S. Marshals, conducted the investigation. Assistant State Attorneys Mark Johnson and Alexander Gilewicz successfully prosecuted the case for the state. The Honorable Alicia Washington presided over the trial and is scheduled to pronounce sentence on June 10, 2025. Price faces a potential sentence of up to life in prison.
