A 15-year-old student at Spoto High School has been arrested after being found in possession of a weapon on school grounds.
According to reports, the student was involved in a verbal altercation with a classmate and allegedly made threatening remarks. Following this incident, an administrative search of the student’s belongings was conducted, which revealed a serrated pocket knife.
The student, identified as Di’Naste Gibson, was taken into custody and has been charged with Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds.
Sheriff Chad Chronister addressed parents following the incident, stating, “Parents, please take the time to speak with your children about the serious consequences of bringing any kind of weapon to school. A classroom should be a place for learning and growth, not fear. One poor decision can change a young life forever, and it’s our responsibility—as a community and as parents—to help prevent that.”
