Jacksonville Man and One-Year-Old Son Killed in Baymeadows Road Crash

A man and his one-year-old child were killed Friday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Baymeadows Road, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on May 16, 2025, around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Baymeadows Road and San Jose Boulevard. JSO Commander Dan Shelton said the victims, a white male in his mid to late 30s and his one-year-old son, were attempting to cross the street when an eastbound older model Honda Civic struck them.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced both the man and child deceased.

The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is cooperating with law enforcement. No charges have been filed at this time.

JSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit is actively investigating the crash. The case remains open.
