The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying three men suspected of using multiple counterfeit $20 bills during a shopping trip last week.
According to investigators, the incident occurred at a retail store on Hutchinson Park Boulevard near I-295. Surveillance photos show the three men entering the store together and making a total of eight separate transactions. Each time, the men reportedly paid using $20 bills.
The counterfeit bills went undetected until the store deposited the money at a bank, where it was flagged as fake.
“All eight bills were counterfeit,” the Sheriff’s Office stated. “One might be a coincidence. Eight? We’re not so sure.”
Detectives are hoping to question the men about where they obtained the counterfeit currency.
Anyone who recognizes the individuals is urged to contact JSO at 904-630-0500. To remain anonymous and possibly earn a cash reward, tips can also be submitted to First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
