A Kentucky man is in custody after being charged with multiple counts of sexually abusing a child under 12 years old while staying at a Port Orange campground.

On May 26, 2025, detectives began investigating 43-year-old Gregory Allen Harris of Murray, Kentucky, after a child disclosed the abuse to a school resource officer in Kentucky. The abuse reportedly took place repeatedly between 2021 and 2024 while Harris was staying in Port Orange.

Following a joint investigation between Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky, detectives secured an arrest warrant in Volusia County charging Harris with multiple counts of sexual battery of a victim under 12 and lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under 12.

Detectives traveled to Kentucky, where Harris was located and arrested with assistance from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office. He will be extradited to Volusia County to face the charges.
