A Lake County deputy’s attempt to stop an erratic driver early Friday morning, June 13, 2025, led to a foot chase, a struggle, and the arrest of a man found with cocaine, marijuana, and a large sum of cash, who was already on probation for cocaine sales.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., a Lake County deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle driving erratically near Wall St. and Virginia Ave. in Eustis. The driver, identified as Delmetrius Brown, 42, immediately fled the vehicle on foot.
After a short pursuit, Brown attempted to fight the deputy while still trying to escape. Once he was secured, a search of the rental car Brown was driving revealed approximately 5 grams of individually wrapped baggies of cocaine, marijuana, and a large sum of cash.
Authorities later discovered that Brown was on probation for a previous conviction for the sale of cocaine. He was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail.
