The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has arrested 38-year-old Taira Mrochek and charged her with manslaughter in connection with the fentanyl overdose death of a 23-year-old woman in March.
JSO officers responded to the death of the 23-year-old woman in a hotel room in the East Arlington area. The Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled her death a fentanyl overdose. The subsequent investigation revealed that the woman had traveled from “up north” to Florida specifically to purchase drugs.
The JSO’s Narcotics Overdose Investigations Unit, a team dedicated to tracking down drug suppliers involved in overdose deaths, combed through evidence and identified Mrochek as the woman’s supplier.
Mrochek was arrested last month and is currently held at the Duval County jail. The JSO stated that its Narcotics and Narcotics Overdose Investigation Units work tirelessly to remove dangerous drugs from the streets and arrest those who introduce them into the community, vowing to work with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure justice is served in this case.
