Two individuals were arrested Monday afternoon, June 16, 2025, after a FLOCK license plate reader alert helped Lake City Police officers locate a stolen vehicle and apprehend its occupants following a brief pursuit.
At approximately 2:15 P.M., Lake City Police Department officers responded to the area of 499 N Marion Avenue after the FLOCK system indicated the presence of a stolen gray 2025 Hyundai Sonata.
Upon arrival, officers located the stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver initially complied but then fled, prompting officers to disengage pursuit for safety reasons. The vehicle was found a short time later near NE Massie Street and NE Milton Terrace, abandoned by its occupants who had fled on foot.
Officers quickly established a perimeter and began searching the area. They successfully located and arrested two occupants, identified as Meisha Lavander Jackson, 27, and Alizay Unique Edwards, 19. Both were transported to the Columbia County Detention Center to face charges.
“This case highlights once again the incredible value of our FLOCK technology,” stated Chief of Police Gerald Butler. “Because of this system, our officers were able to quickly locate a stolen vehicle and safely apprehend suspects.”
