Governor Announces New Direct Paris-Orlando Flight, Major Aerospace Investment in Florida

Governor Ron DeSantis, speaking at the Florida Business Seminar in Paris on June 18th, unveiled significant advancements bolstering Florida’s standing in international travel and aerospace innovation. Key announcements include the return of a direct Air France flight to Orlando and a substantial investment by a French aircraft manufacturer in Daytona Beach.

The Governor highlighted the launch of a new nonstop, year-round Air France service between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). This marks Air France’s return to Orlando after over a decade. “Florida’s freedom-first policies, strong economy, and commitment to remaining open for business have made our state one of the most attractive destinations in the world,” said Governor DeSantis. “The return of direct flights between Orlando and Paris not only reflects strong demand from travelers but also creates new economic opportunities and strengthens Florida’s international ties.”

Florida’s tourism sector has seen remarkable growth, with a record-setting 143 million visitors in 2024, including nearly 9 million overseas travelers. This momentum continued into the first quarter of 2025, with 41.2 million visitors, leading the nation in both domestic and international travel. The Orlando-Paris route was previously the largest unserved U.S.-Europe market, and the resumed service is projected to generate approximately $54 million in annual economic impact for Central Florida.

In a major development for Florida’s aerospace industry, Governor DeSantis also announced that French aircraft manufacturer AURA AERO will establish its first U.S. facility at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Research Park in Daytona Beach. Supported by an initial $3.4 million investment from Space Florida, this 10,000-square-foot facility will serve as the U.S. delivery and support center for AURA AERO’s INTEGRAL R trainer aircraft and facilitate flight testing for its all-electric INTEGRAL E model.

AURA AERO also revealed plans for a significant second phase: the construction of a 500,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at Daytona Beach International Airport. This larger plant will produce its next-generation 19-seat hybrid-electric aircraft, ERA. This expansion is expected to create over 1,000 jobs, further positioning Florida at the forefront of aviation innovation and advanced air mobility.

Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly emphasized the state’s appeal to international investors, citing Florida’s top-ranked economy, talent development, and pro-business environment. Rob Long, President and CEO of Space Florida, and Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd, and Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared W. Perdue all underscored the significance of these announcements for Florida’s economic growth and global connections.
