Operation Knock-Knock Cracks Down on Sex Offender Violations in Hernando County

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, in a joint operation with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Florida Department of Corrections, conducted a county-wide compliance sweep called “Operation Knock Knock” during the week of July 28. The multi-agency effort involved unannounced residential visits to registered sexual offenders and predators to verify their compliance with legal sanctions.

During the operation, a total of 30 visits were made, and 10 individuals were found to be in violation of their registration requirements or probation. The violations included:

  • Rene Frederick Rock (40): Failure to report an internet identifier/email address.
  • George Rodriguez (70): Failure to report a change of vehicle ownership.
  • Terry Rodney Wilson (64): Probation violation (original offense: Sexual Battery).
  • Gary Gene Brooks (72): Failure to report a change of vehicle ownership.
  • Edward Lee Powell (56): Probation violation and failure to report an email address or internet identifiers.
  • Lawrence Letterman (61): Probation violation (original offense: Failure to Register as a Sexual Offender).
  • William Peter Faiella Jr. (44): Probation violation (original offenses: Sexual Battery, Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, and Solicitation to Commit Murder).
  • Donald Havlik (79): Probation violation (original offenses: Possession of Child Pornography and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device).
  • Michael Charles O’Connor (65): Failure to report a phone number and resisting arrest without violence.
  • James Thomas Sieben (36): Failure to register an email address or internet identifiers (x2) and failure to report a phone number.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and its law enforcement partners stated that they remain committed to ensuring community safety by actively monitoring offenders and that similar operations are planned for the near future. Individuals who fail to comply with state laws or court-imposed sanctions will be held accountable.
