St. Johns County Man Arrested After Approaching 7-year-old Girl, Possessing Child Porn

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies arrested an 18-year-old man after he allegedly approached a 7-year-old girl in a Northwest St. Johns County neighborhood and later admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on August 10, 2025, after parents reported that a man had walked up to the child as she played in her driveway with other children. When confronted, the suspect, identified as Nicholas Kyle Perez, allegedly told parents he wanted to “do bad things” to one of the children.

Deputies made contact with Perez, who described having thoughts of sexually abusing children and admitted to waiting until he believed they were alone before approaching them. Investigators say Perez also made statements about having child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on his computer.

Detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children and Digital Forensics units executed a search warrant at Perez’s home and seized digital devices. A preliminary search uncovered numerous CSAM images depicting the sexual assault of children, according to investigators.

Perez was arrested and charged with Attempted Sexual Battery on a Victim less than 12 and Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

The investigation remains active. Authorities are asking anyone with information related to this case or Perez to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 824-8304 or email crimetips@sjso.org.
