Jacksonville Beach Traffic Stop Nets Gun, Drugs; Driver Arrested

On September 20, 2025, a Jacksonville Beach Police officer stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of 2nd Street South for driving without a functioning tag light. The driver, identified as Donnell J. Ashraf, was found to have a suspended license, and officers detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A search of the car turned up a loaded 9mm handgun with multiple magazines within reach of the driver, roughly 44 grams of marijuana, and numerous empty baggies consistent with distribution.

Ashraf was arrested and charged with:

  • Armed Possession with Intent to Sell
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • No Tag Light
