Two Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting of Orlando Woman

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of two suspects in the September 9 shooting death of Karimar Nicole Rios.

Just after 2:10 a.m. on September 9, deputies responded to a call of a vehicle crash with shots fired near Sand Lake Road and South Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando. Rios was found inside the car suffering from gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

On Wednesday, September 24, investigators confirmed that Jonathan Martinez, 20, and Joshua Benetiz Rodriguez, 20, had been arrested and charged with Second-Degree Murder with a Firearm and Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle. Both men are being held without bond.

“Our thoughts are with the Rios family during this difficult time,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
