Hillsborough County Man Found Guilty of Murdering Girlfriend and 4-Year-Old Daughter

Hillsborough County, FL – – A jury has found Angel Gabriel Cuz Choc guilty of first-degree murder in the brutal deaths of his girlfriend, Amalia Coc Choc De Pec, and her 4-year-old daughter. The killings occurred in April 2024 at their home in Dover.

Investigators revealed that Cuz Choc had allegedly been wanted for two murders in Guatemala before entering the U.S. illegally in September 2023. During the trial, detectives, forensic experts, and crime scene analysts presented overwhelming evidence, including multiple weapons tied to the murders and surveillance video showing the defendant chasing Amalia hours before she was found stabbed and beaten. The child’s body was discovered in a bathtub inside the home.

Cuz Choc testified that he did not remember committing the murders. Prosecutors argued that he became enraged when Amalia returned home later than expected. After the killings, he fled into nearby woods and was captured by law enforcement the following day.

The jury will now determine whether Cuz Choc will face the death penalty or spend the rest of his life in prison.

State Attorney Suzy Lopez said, “My heart breaks for this mother and her little girl, whose lives were taken in acts of pure evil. He brutally murdered the woman he considered to be his wife, and the little girl he treated as a daughter. We will not rest until the victims’ family gets the justice they deserve.”
