Three Teenagers Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Crashes Into Mattress Store in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Three teenagers, including an 18-year-old, a 14-year-old, and a 12-year-old, were arrested following a crash into a mattress store on Dunn Avenue over the weekend.

On Sunday morning, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) Patrol officers in District 6 responded to the store after a vehicle smashed through the storefront and caught fire. Surveillance footage captured the moments immediately after the crash, showing three individuals fleeing the scene. Investigators later confirmed that the car had been stolen.

On Monday night, officers observed three young men running from a residence after hearing what they believed to be a gunshot. The trio matched the descriptions of the suspects seen in the surveillance footage. After questioning, the teenagers were identified as the individuals involved in the crash.

The 18-year-old, Bernard McClendon, along with the 12-year-old and 14-year-old, each face felony charges for their involvement. No injuries were reported from the incident, but the crash caused significant property damage to the family-owned store.

Sheriff’s officials emphasized the role of parental involvement in preventing such incidents. “This group made a choice, and that choice led to the destruction of a family’s business. Now, this trio will face the consequences of their actions,” JSO said.
