ST. JOHNS COUNTY, FL — What began as a routine traffic stop for a fake license plate turned into a major drug bust earlier this month.
On October 2, 2025, members of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Task Force pulled over a vehicle at the southbound I-95 rest area for a counterfeit license plate. Deputies identified the driver as 36-year-old Roshad Palmer and, during a vehicle search, discovered a large quantity of drugs and fraudulent documents.
Deputies seized:
- Over 300 grams of marijuana
- 120+ containers of narcotics packaged for sale and transport
- 22.7 grams of Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills
- 0.4 grams of Acetaminophen and Dextroamphetamine pills
- 12 bottles of Promethazine Hydrochloride Oral Solution intended for sale
- Two fake driver’s licenses and a counterfeit Florida temporary tag
Palmer was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including possession and intent to sell controlled substances, possession of forged identification, possession of a counterfeit license plate, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Investigators also discovered that Palmer is a fugitive from justice in Georgia, where he failed to appear in court on serious drug and firearm charges, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Palmer is currently being held in the St. Johns County Jail without bond while awaiting extradition to Georgia.
