Daytona Beach Police Investigate Series of Motorcycle Crashes, Two Fatal

Daytona Beach, FL — The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) is investigating three major motor vehicle crashes that occurred within a six-day span, all involving motorcycles. Two of the crashes resulted in fatalities, and one left a rider in critical condition.

October 18, 2025 – Serious Injury Crash on North Atlantic Avenue
At approximately 1:07 a.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of North Atlantic Avenue after reports of a major crash involving two motorcycles. Upon arrival, officers located both motorcycles and two individuals with serious injuries.

The crash occurred within an active work zone that was properly marked with signage, barricades, and lighting, alerting motorists of a lane reduction. The preliminary investigation revealed that the at-fault driver, identified as Lonnie Langkabel, struck the rear of another motorcycle traveling in front of him. Both Langkabel and the passenger of the other motorcycle were ejected.

Langkabel was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The other rider has since been released and is recovering. Investigators have obtained a video circulating online that appears to show Langkabel prior to the collision, and it will be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

October 21, 2025 – Fatal Crash at North Halifax Avenue and Columbus Avenue
At approximately 6:17 p.m., DBPD officers responded to a major crash at the intersection of North Halifax Avenue and Columbus Avenue. A 2004 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by 37-year-old Lyndon Foster, collided with a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Witnesses reported that Foster had been operating the motorcycle recklessly before the crash. Investigators also determined that Foster did not possess a valid driver’s license or motorcycle endorsement.

Foster was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation remains ongoing.

October 23, 2025 – Fatal Crash at S. Clyde Morris Boulevard and Beville Road
At approximately 6:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a Nissan passenger vehicle at the intersection of S. Clyde Morris Boulevard and Beville Road.

Preliminary findings indicate the motorcycle lost control and struck the median, ejecting the rider, who was then struck by the Nissan. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to those injuries. The driver of the Nissan was not injured. The motorcyclist’s identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

This crash also remains under active investigation.

The Daytona Beach Police Department urges all motorists and motorcycle riders to operate safely and responsibly. These incidents remain active investigations, and no further information is available at this time.
