On Monday, November 3, a 15-year-old 9th-grade student at Leon High School in Tallahassee was involved in a physical altercation following a verbal dispute.
The student reportedly believed another student had called him a derogatory name and struck that student multiple times. When a school staff member attempted to intervene, the student also struck the staff member.
The student was arrested and charged with Battery and Battery on a School Official. He was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center and will face school disciplinary actions under the Leon County Schools Student Code of Conduct.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office urges parents and guardians to speak with their children about resolving conflicts peacefully and maintaining a safe school environment.
