Flagler Man Rearrested on Fentanyl Trafficking Charges Following Narcotics Investigation

Ryan McArthur, 37, of Palm Coast, was rearrested by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office on November 10 on charges of trafficking in fentanyl and unlawful use of a two-way communications device, following an ongoing narcotics investigation.

McArthur was originally taken into custody on July 1 during a narcotics-related search warrant at his residence. Investigators from FCSO’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) continued their work in coordination with the State Attorney for Florida’s 7th Circuit, gathering additional evidence from a controlled narcotics purchase that occurred during the five months leading up to the initial arrest. Laboratory testing by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirmed the presence of over 28 grams of fentanyl, which prompted the issuance of the new arrest warrant.

The warrant was served at the Volusia County Branch Jail, where McArthur remains held without bond. Trafficking in fentanyl carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $500,000 fine upon conviction.

“Thanks to a thorough investigation by our SIU team and prosecution by State Attorney R. J. Larizza’s office, this poison peddler should go to prison for a very long time,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “If you’re a poison peddler, I suggest you get the hell out of Flagler County because we are coming for you next to send you away to prison for a very long time.”

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office continues to prioritize the investigation and prosecution of narcotics offenses to protect the community from dangerous drugs like fentanyl.
