Killer Captured and Charged With Murder in Fatal Stabbing of Orange County Woman

ORANGE COUNTY, FL – A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a Pine Hills woman who was attacked at her home late last month, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies took Tremon Delo Jones into custody on Friday, December 5, and charged him with first-degree murder in the killing of 45-year-old Degwendlyn Vakaye Floyd. The attack happened on November 28 around 11 p.m. at Floyd’s home on Rockingham Circle.

Investigators say surveillance video captured the moments leading up to the stabbing. Floyd appeared to be on the phone and engaged in an argument before answering her front door. As soon as she opened it, the attacker lunged at her. According to a family member, she tried to turn back inside the house, but the assailant continued stabbing her multiple times in the back.

Deputies found Floyd seriously injured when they arrived. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Family described Floyd, who went by “Gwen”, as warm, generous, and someone who went out of her way to lift others up with kind words.

Jones was arrested a week after the attack and is now being held on a first-degree murder charge. The investigation remains ongoing.
