JSO Charging Man With Two Murders After Separate Killings of Man and Woman

JACKSONVILLE, FL – A 37-year-old man is now facing two murder charges following the deaths of a man and a woman found at separate locations in November.

Curtis Asberry was charged on December 12 with the murders of 27-year-old Maurice Solomon and 35-year-old Tiffany Felton, following an extensive investigation by homicide detectives.

On November 15, District 1 officers responded to reports of a deceased man found along the side of East 15th Street near Phoenix Avenue. The victim was identified as Solomon, and the Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled his death a homicide.

The following day, November 16, District 4 officers were flagged down by a civilian who reported finding a deceased woman beneath a bridge along Blanding Boulevard. Officers located Felton at the scene, and the Medical Examiner’s Office also ruled her death a homicide.

Investigators identified Asberry as the suspect in both cases. He was arrested on November 17, one day after Felton’s death, by the Community Problem Response Unit on unrelated charges. Detectives continued building evidence in both homicide investigations, ultimately obtaining warrants charging Asberry with murder in both cases.

Authorities noted that Felton’s death was one of several incidents that led to false online claims of a serial killer operating in Jacksonville. Police stated her case is not connected to the other two women’s killings referenced in those claims. One of those cases has resulted in an arrest, while the other remains under active investigation.

Police said the investigations are ongoing and emphasized their commitment to holding those responsible accountable.
