PORT ORANGE, FL – Police in Port Orange arrested two suspects following a burglary investigation that led to a brief foot chase, a Taser deployment, and the recovery of stolen property and narcotics.
According to the Port Orange Police Department, officers began investigating a burglary reported on December 18, 2025, at a local apartment complex where maintenance supplies had been stolen. Detectives later identified the suspects as 39-year-old Sean R. Johnson and his girlfriend, 50-year-old Dianaruth I. Persaud, both of Port Orange.
On December 29, officers Braden and Dunn went to the couple’s residence to take them into custody on burglary and grand theft charges. Police said Johnson was known to officers and had previously fled from law enforcement. As officers attempted to make contact, Johnson exited the residence through the garage, then ran back inside when officers tried to stop him.
Officers pursued Johnson into the residence, where he actively resisted arrest. A Taser was deployed, allowing officers to safely take him into custody.
During the arrest, officers could hear Persaud inside the home. Police said she fled out the back of the residence with her 7-year-old daughter and hid inside a neighboring home. Officers Peterson and Paull located Persaud inside the neighbor’s residence and placed her under arrest without further incident.
