Teen Accused of Luring Minors in Charlotte County for Drugs and Sexual Battery

A New Year’s Eve celebration turned into a criminal investigation after an 18-year-old man allegedly lured two minors to his home, provided them with illicit narcotics, and sexually assaulted one of them.

Authorities announced the arrest of James Scheuerell, born June 28, 2007, following an intensive investigation by the Major Crimes Unit.

The Incident and Investigation

The investigation began on January 1, 2026, after reports surfaced that Scheuerell had used an electronic device to lure two juveniles to his residence on the night of December 31. Once at the home, Scheuerell is accused of smoking THC Wax, a potent, concentrated form of illicit cannabis, with both minors.

The situation escalated when Scheuerell allegedly engaged in sexual activity with one of the victims. Following the report, the Major Crimes Unit executed multiple search warrants at Scheuerell’s home to gather physical and digital evidence.

During an interview with detectives, Scheuerell reportedly admitted to engaging in sexual acts with one of the minors.

  • Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (2 Counts): For supplying and using narcotics with both juveniles.
