NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A Jacksonville man is facing multiple felony charges after an investigation by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) uncovered a pattern of sexual abuse involving a minor that allegedly spanned several years and multiple jurisdictions.
Colby Garrett Rhoden, 23, was taken into custody on Monday, January 5, 2026, following a detailed investigation into allegations that surfaced late last year.
The Investigation and Charges
The case began in October 2025, when a victim provided a formal statement to NCSO investigators detailing years of abuse. According to the report, the incidents began when the victim was a young child and continued even after Rhoden reached the legal age of 18.
Detectives determined that the abuse was not confined to a single location, initially occurring in Jacksonville before continuing in Hilliard.
As a result of the findings, Rhoden has been charged with:
- Two counts of Sexual Battery
- Two counts of Lewd or Lascivious Battery
Method of Isolation and Abuse
The victim’s statement paints a chilling picture of how the suspect allegedly operated. According to the report, the victim was frequently invited into a room under the guise of watching television. Once there, Rhoden would reportedly isolate the victim to commit the abuse. The victim told investigators they were too paralyzed by fear to refuse or seek help at the time.
Current Legal Status
Rhoden was arrested without incident and transported to the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center. Due to the severity of the charges and the long-term nature of the alleged crimes, his bond has been set at exceeding $100,000.
Authorities are continuing to review the case to ensure all incidents have been documented. As with all criminal proceedings, Rhoden is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
