Former School Bookkeeper in Nassau County Arrested After Stealing $100K+

NASSAU COUNTY, Florida – The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a former Nassau County School District bookkeeper following an investigation into the alleged theft of more than $100,000 from Hilliard Middle-Senior High School over a span of several years.

Jennifer Lynn Folliett, 46, of Hilliard, was taken into custody Tuesday, January 27, and charged with organized fraud, grand theft, and official misconduct.

The investigation began in February 2025 after the Nassau County School Board reported suspected financial irregularities involving school funds, including potential misuse of the school’s Amazon account. As investigators dug deeper, they determined Folliett allegedly diverted money from multiple school-related sources for personal use.

According to third-party audits, between August 2022 and December 2024, Folliett made 148 separate cash deposits into her personal bank account totaling $124,610. Investigators also found more than $2,000 in unauthorized purchases made through the school’s Amazon account. Those purchases allegedly included clothing, weight loss products, and perfume.

Authorities say the stolen money was obtained through an organized scheme in which Folliett collected cash for school clubs, sports, and activities, then kept a portion of the funds instead of depositing them in full. As a result, several school invoices were paid late, and some sports teams and clubs experienced delays or problems receiving equipment and supplies.

Investigators also believe Folliett manipulated sporting event attendance records. Records showed a steady decline in reported ticket sales, which investigators found suspicious given that attendance at school events generally increased after COVID restrictions were lifted.

Folliett’s employment with Hilliard Middle-Senior High School was terminated in December 2024 following the school district’s preliminary findings. She was booked into the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center, where her bond was set at more than $75,000.
