Apopka Police: Siblings’ Deaths at Griffin General Store Ruled Murder–Suicide

APOPKA, Fla. — The Apopka Police Department has released a final update regarding the death investigation at Griffin General Store, located at 262 W. Michael Gladden Blvd., on February 6, 2026.

After a thorough investigation, detectives determined the incident was a domestic murder–suicide involving two adult siblings.

Investigators concluded the suspect fatally shot his sister before taking his own life. Authorities say evidence collected at the scene, witness statements, and forensic findings confirm the violence was isolated to the two family members and did not pose a broader threat to the public.

Police acknowledged that while the incident stemmed from a family matter, acts of domestic violence carry a deep emotional impact on loved ones and the wider community. The department extended condolences to the family during this difficult time.

Officials also urged anyone experiencing domestic violence or family conflict to seek help. Assistance is available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

The department thanked the community for its patience as detectives worked to complete the investigation.
