Duval County Jury Finds Man Guilty in Armed Robbery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced that a Duval County jury has found 45-year-old David Santell Williams guilty of Armed Robbery, Armed Robbery While Wearing a Mask, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Resisting an Officer Without Violence.

With the verdict, Williams faces up to life in Florida State Prison. Tatiana Salvador will sentence Williams at a later date.

The charges stem from an armed robbery that occurred around 4 p.m. on November 23, 2024, at a business on McDuff Avenue. According to investigators, an armed man entered the store, grabbed cash, stole a victim’s cellphone, and fled the scene in a truck. The incident was captured on surveillance video.

Victims provided a description of the vehicle seen leaving the area. One victim was able to track the location of her stolen phone and relayed that information to emergency dispatchers, helping officers quickly locate the truck nearby.

When officers conducted a stop, Williams ran from the vehicle but was quickly apprehended. During the investigation, officers recovered the stolen cellphone. A search of the truck uncovered the stolen cash inside the glove compartment and the firearm used in the robbery hidden under the passenger seat, where Williams had been sitting.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Elizabeth Brown and Joseph Ciliberto.

Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
