Micah McGuire

Palm Coast Man Captured After Attempting Flight to Colorado to Evade Child Abuse Probe

PALM COAST, FL — A 21-year-old Palm Coast man who allegedly filmed a sexual assault of a teenager was arrested Friday after scrambled attempts to flee the state before detectives could execute a search warrant.

Micah McGuire was taken into custody on May 29, 2026, following a tense confrontation at his front door. He is facing multiple felony charges and remains held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on a $61,000 bond.

Cellular Clues and a Race Against the Calendar

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Cyber Crimes Unit launched an investigation in April after a juvenile victim came forward to report a sexual assault. The victim only knew her attacker by the first name “Micah.”

Cyber investigators and digital forensic analysts successfully identified McGuire as the suspect. During the probe, detectives discovered that McGuire had not only engaged in unlawful sexual activity with the teenager but had also used the victim’s own cell phone to film a portion of the assault.

On Friday, detectives tracking McGuire reached him by telephone to set up a formal interview. McGuire became visibly agitated during the call, declaring that he was permanently moving to Denver, Colorado, on June 3 because he wanted to get “out of Florida.”

Immediately after hanging up, McGuire began frantically calling associates to arrange an emergency ride to Orlando International Airport so he could board a flight to Colorado days ahead of his original schedule.

Doorbell Confrontation and Arrest

Realizing the suspect was an immediate flight risk, Cyber Crimes and Digital Forensics Unit detectives rushed to McGuire’s residence.

While speaking with McGuire outside his front door, detectives informed him that they possessed a signed search warrant to seize his cell phone and harvest a biological DNA sample. Upon hearing this, McGuire shifted backward, became combative, and attempted to slam the heavy front door on the officers.

Detectives breached the threshold, physically subdued the resisting suspect, and placed him in handcuffs.

Sheriff Applauds Quick Takedown

McGuire has been formally charged with:

  • Lewd or Lascivious Battery
  • Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child
  • Resisting an Officer Without Violence

A review of local records indicates this is not McGuire’s first interaction with law enforcement. His prior arrest history in Flagler County includes charges of making written or electronic threats to kill, driving without a valid license, obstruction, and violation of probation.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly expressed praise for the swift interception by his specialized cyber teams:

“This dirtbag thought he could assault a child and then skip town to Colorado before we caught up to him. He thought wrong. Our Cyber Crimes and Digital Forensics Unit detectives did an outstanding job identifying and locating this dirtbag, gathering evidence, and getting him in handcuffs before he could buy a one-way ticket out of Florida. Instead, he got a free one-way ride to the Green Roof Inn.”

The investigation remains active, and detectives are actively seeking to determine if there are additional victims in the northeast Florida area. Anyone possessing information regarding McGuire or his online activity is strongly encouraged to call the FCSO non-emergency line at 386-313-4911, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-888-277-TIPS.
