JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman was killed and three men were injured in a shooting Monday afternoon on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded just before 1 p.m. on July 27 after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area of Susie Street near Old Middleburg Road.
When officers arrived, they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds: a 57-year-old woman, a 33-year-old man and a 69-year-old man. All three victims were transported to local hospitals, where the woman later died from her injuries.
At about the same time, a 31-year-old man arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound that investigators believe is connected to the incident.
Commander Jacob Vorpahl of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Major Case Section said detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including identifying the suspect or suspects and establishing who was involved.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence as they work to determine what led to the gunfire.
