ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A 91-year-old man has been arrested after authorities say he fatally shot his wife inside their longtime home in the St. Augustine Shores community.
Deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded Saturday, Aug. 1, to a residence in the 100 block of Como Court after receiving a report of a shooting.
When deputies arrived, they found 87-year-old Mary L. Lippold dead inside the home.
Investigators arrested the victim’s husband, 91-year-old William A. Lippold, at the scene.
He has been charged with Premeditated First-Degree Murder with a Firearm.
According to property records, the couple had owned the Como Court home since it was built in 1990.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The agency’s Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
