MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced the arrests of two convicted sex offenders who were living in the United States illegally, following a joint operation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The arrests were carried out by FDLE’s Missing Persons and Offender Enforcement Division with assistance from FDLE Miami as part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to locate and apprehend convicted offenders who are in the country unlawfully.
One of those arrested was 62-year-old Raul Vicente Cordoba-Cordoba, who authorities said entered the United States illegally from Cuba. According to FDLE, Cordoba-Cordoba was convicted of sexual assault in 1998 and sexual battery in 2012.
The second individual, 30-year-old Jhonny Alejandro Rodriguez Ascencao, is a Venezuelan national who investigators said overstayed his visa after entering the United States in 2021.
FDLE said Rodriguez Ascencao was convicted in April 2026 of lewd and lascivious battery involving a minor.
Authorities said both men were taken into custody in Miami-Dade County through a collaborative effort between FDLE inspectors, agents, analysts and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
FDLE said the arrests prevent both offenders from victimizing additional residents and highlighted the importance of cooperation between state and federal law enforcement agencies in identifying and apprehending convicted offenders living in Florida illegally.
