ORANGE PARK, Fla. – A 38-year-old man was arrested Saturday after a woman reported that he choked her from behind and pointed a firearm at her during a domestic violence incident at an Orange Park residence, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a home on Peoria Drive on Saturday, Aug. 22, following a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.
The caller told authorities that James Julian, 38, had choked her from behind and pointed a gun at her.
Julian allegedly left the residence in his vehicle before deputies arrived.
Deputies subsequently located Julian’s vehicle nearby and established a perimeter in the area as a precaution while searching for him.
Sergeant Convinces Suspect to Return
As deputies continued their search, a Clay County Sheriff’s Office sergeant was able to contact Julian by telephone.
According to the sheriff’s office, the sergeant established a rapport with Julian and persuaded him to return to the Peoria Drive residence.
When Julian arrived, deputies took him into custody without incident.
Julian was arrested on charges of domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
