Florida Home Renovation Contractor Arrested After Customer Pays $36,875 for Unfinished Project

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The owner of a home remodeling company has been arrested on felony theft charges after investigators say he collected nearly $37,000 from a customer for a renovation project that was repeatedly delayed and eventually abandoned.

Steven Rounds, 40, owner of Incredible Kitchen and Bath, was arrested October 27, 2026, and charged with grand theft and misappropriation of construction funds following an investigation by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

According to investigators, the case began October 2 when a homeowner contacted the Sheriff’s Office about a renovation contract signed with Incredible Kitchen and Bath in April 2026.

The homeowner reported making multiple payments totaling $36,875 toward the project.

Investigators Say Contractor Abandoned Project and Failed to Pay Subcontractors

According to the Sheriff’s Office, construction was repeatedly delayed after the homeowner made the payments.

The customer made several attempts to contact the company about the project’s progress but received little meaningful communication.

Investigators said the company also failed to pay subcontractors involved in the renovation and ultimately abandoned the job site without completing the work.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Unit determined that Rounds had allegedly obtained the homeowner’s money under false pretenses.

Authorities believe the funds were not used to cover labor and material expenses associated with the renovation, as required under the agreement.

Contractor Arrested in Jacksonville

Following the investigation, authorities located Rounds in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested him October 27 in connection with the St. Johns County investigation.

Rounds faces charges of grand theft and misappropriation of construction funds.
