LaBelle Man Arrested on Multiple Drug and Firearm Charges After Surveillance Operation

William Tyrone Smith, 48, was arrested by the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and K-9 Units on January 10, 2025, following an investigation into narcotics sales at his residence in LaBelle. Smith was charged with a range of drug and firearm offenses after deputies discovered multiple drugs and firearms on his property.

The investigation began when the HCSO Narcotics Investigator received information that Smith was selling narcotics from his home at 972 Fordson Ave. Surveillance was set up, and over a two-hour period, deputies observed several individuals stopping at Smith’s residence, engaging in brief interactions with him, and making hand-to-hand exchanges.

When K-9 officers approached Smith, who was seated in his vehicle, they detected the strong odor of marijuana. A search of his vehicle uncovered large bundles of cash and a container of crack cocaine. Following his arrest, deputies conducted a search of Smith’s property, uncovering several firearms, additional narcotics, and drug paraphernalia.

Smith was arrested on multiple charges, including trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine with intent to sell within 1000 feet of a park, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of synthetic cannabis with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Smith is being held in the Hendry County Jail with a bond set at $405,000.
