Gainesville Man Arrested with 53 Grams of Meth in Gilchrist County Traffic Stop

A Gainesville man was arrested on January 30, 2025, after deputies discovered 53 grams of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Gilchrist County.

Deputies observed a white pickup truck without a tag near SW 70th Street and W Suwannee Street. Deputy Marchione conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Justin Lewis, 39, of Gainesville.

Following the initial stop, Deputy Marchione initiated a narcotics investigation, which led to the discovery of a white crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. Lewis was also found in possession of a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine.

Lewis was arrested and charged with Trafficking Amphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Gilchrist County Jail.

Sheriff Bobby Schultz commended the deputies for their continued efforts to keep roadways safe and slow the flow of illegal narcotics in the county.
