Columbia County Deputies Shoot Armed Suspect During Eviction

A man was shot by deputies on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, after pointing a firearm at law enforcement officers serving a final eviction notice at a residence on SW Washington Avenue in the Three Rivers Estates subdivision.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., three Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived to serve the eviction. The subject had previously made threats toward law enforcement. Upon their arrival, the individual pointed a firearm at the deputies, prompting two of them to open fire, striking him in the lower extremities.

The suspect was airlifted to a trauma center, where he remains in stable condition. No deputies were injured in the incident.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the deputy-involved shooting, while the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a criminal investigation into the aggravated assault against the deputies. Criminal charges against the suspect are pending.
