A Duval County jury found Dominic Williams guilty on January 30, 2025, of one count of First-Degree Murder and two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder in connection with a 2019 targeted shooting that left one teen dead and two others injured. Williams now faces a mandatory life sentence in Florida State Prison, with sentencing scheduled for a later date before the Honorable Lindsay Tygart.
The shooting occurred on August 12, 2019, when the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a fast-food restaurant on Kings Road, where two people were found seriously injured. ShotSpotter technology had earlier alerted authorities to gunfire in the area. After a car crash down the road, police discovered a third victim, a 17-year-old who later succumbed to his injuries.
One of the surviving victims informed investigators that he had been set up by a woman he met through social media but had never met in person. Messages between the woman and the victim were obtained, as well as conversations between the woman and Joey Adams III, who instructed her to orchestrate the setup. Following further investigation, Adams, who had already pleaded guilty to his involvement, revealed the names of other co-defendants, including Williams.
Text messages and cell site data placed Williams at the scene of the shooting. He, along with Adams, was arrested and charged in connection with the crime.
The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Lauren Anderson and Brittany Johnson.
