JSO Detectives’ Proactive Policing Leads to Major Drug and Firearm Seizure, Two Arrests

Jacksonville, FL – Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) Community Problem Response (CPR) Unit detectives, conducting follow-up on an investigation on the Eastside, observed suspicious activity at a home on Spearing Street. Detectives witnessed individuals engaged in what appeared to be a drug transaction, loading items into a vehicle before driving away.

Detectives initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle, which resulted in the discovery of:

  • 78 grams of Fentanyl (potentially over 39,000 deadly doses)
  • 25 grams of Cocaine
  • 40 grams of Marijuana

The traffic stop led to the execution of a search warrant at the Spearing Street residence, where detectives uncovered additional contraband:

  • 119 grams of Fentanyl (potentially over 59,000 deadly doses)
  • 25 grams of Cocaine
  • 23.5 grams of Marijuana
  • 10 firearms
  • $7,000 in cash

Officers arrested two individuals: 25-year-old Jaaon McGhee and 24-year-old Lorenzo Dukes. Both face multiple felony charges related to drug trafficking and firearms possession and are currently in the Duval County Jail.

The JSO highlighted this incident as an example of proactive policing efforts aimed at enhancing safety in Jacksonville.
