Duval County Man Found Guilty of Triple Murder, Faces Mandatory Life Sentence

State Attorney Melissa Nelson has announced that a Duval County jury found Jadarrius Jones guilty of three counts of First-Degree Murder in connection with the 2023 deaths of his grandparents, Gregory Merritt and Uneeda Hardy, and another man, Luther Williams. As a result of the guilty verdict, Jones will receive a mandatory sentence of life in Florida State Prison. The formal sentencing by the Honorable Tatiana Salvador will take place at a later date.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at a Westside home after noon on January 15, 2023. Upon arrival, they discovered Luther Williams deceased in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds. Inside the residence, officers found Gregory Merritt and Uneeda Hardy dead in a bedroom, also with multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators recovered numerous 9 mm shell casings at the scene.

A witness from a nearby house informed police that Jones arrived at her home in a black car and entered armed with a gun. She described him as wearing a fanny pack and white sneakers with blood on them. When another individual in the house learned about the nearby shooting and noticed the blood on Jones’ shoes, a fight ensued, and Jones fled. Authorities subsequently found the shoes and the fanny pack, which were later identified as belonging to Luther Williams. Jones was apprehended and, after being read his Miranda rights, admitted to shooting Merritt, Hardy, and Williams before leaving in the black car.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Brooke Milo and Sheila Loizos.
