The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals in connection with the May 14, 2025, fatal shooting of 31-year-old Michael Workman in Seffner, FL.
Deputies responded to the 100 block of Phillips Drive at approximately 3:14 a.m. and located Workman suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
On May 16, HCSO’s Aviation Unit located the primary suspect, 29-year-old Kristopher Bridges, at a convenience store parking lot in Temple Terrace. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, Bridges rammed a sheriff’s vehicle and fled. A pursuit followed, ending in Thonotosassa where deputies executed a precision immobilization technique (PIT) and apprehended Bridges after a brief foot chase.
Bridges was initially charged with:
- Aggravated Fleeing to Elude
- Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officer with Deadly Weapon
- Resisting Officer Without Violence
- Reckless Driving with Property Damage or Personal Injury
- Out of County Warrant: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Out of County Warrant: Possession of Weapon or Ammo by Convicted Felon
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Robbery with a Firearm
After further investigation, detectives identified Bridges as the shooter. On June 30, 2025, he was additionally charged with:
- First-Degree Murder with a Firearm (Premeditated)
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Tampering with Physical Evidence Related to a Capital Felony
Detectives also arrested a second suspect, 39-year-old Tara Weimer, who is facing the following charges:
- Accessory After the Fact
- Tampering with Physical Evidence Related to a Capital Felony
The investigation remains ongoing.
